Commander Honors 4 Legionnaires in 4 Counties

NY Commander Kenneth Governor presented the Department Commander's Award of Excellence to four Legionnaires in his visitation swing through the 7th District Feb. 6-9.
He cited their "dedication to our men and women in uniform, our veterans, their families and your community."

The honorees were:
  • Warren Carpenter, a 22-year member of Clark Heck Post 568 in Weedsport, Cayuga County.
  • Holly Trueman, a member of Bradley-Jessop Post 660 in Dundee, Yates County.
  • William Miller, a member of Theodore R. Van Tassel Post 408 in Wayland, Steuben County.
  • Mel Keenan, a member of Matthew Cleary Post 255 in Caledonia, Livingston County.
It was a joint visitation swing with New York Auxiliary President Barbara Corker and New York Sons of the American Legion (SAL) Detachment Commander John Chang. The presentations took place during dinners at LaBuff-Cole Post 911in Cato, Johnson-Costello Post 355 in Penn Yan, Canisteo Memorial Post 846 in Canisteo, and Daniel Goho Post 87 in Dansville.
